In this project, we helped a school reopen by getting them supplies that they needed! See the pictures below of the school, and the supplies!
This school is the Sri Punyakami Vidyalaya, in Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka. They wanted to reopen after the COVID-19 pandemic, but they did not have basic supplies such as hand sanitizers, cleaning liquids and masks. We worked with the Rotaract Club of Panadura (a local charity organization) and provided the shool with a series of cleaning supplies. We also built a sink and hand washing station for the the students to use. This school has over 100 students.
By working with the school and the local community, we were able to identify what types of supplies they needed (disinfectant, cleaning supplies for the floors, buckets, and other items). Our partner negotiated with local suppliers for good rates and we bought the supplies in bulk. We also learned that the students had no good place to wash their hands, so we built them a standing public sink that all the kids could use.
